Husker fans will probably be surprised on Saturday when they notice that linebacker Phillip Dilliard is back out there with the first team. Dillard was told by the coaches on Tuesday that he was being moved to the WILL linbacker from the MIKE linebacker position.
Dillard hasn’t seen the playing field in a game since Oct 25th of last year when he went down with an ankle injury against Baylor. There was quite a bit of talk later in the season and during the offseason in Lincoln as to why Dillard wasn’t getting any playing time.
I’ve heard that one reason he is moving to MIKE is because Will Compton has had a hard time getting the defensive calls from the sideline and then relayed to the rest of the defense in time for the d to get into position quickly. Hopefully Dillard can help out that and be productive because we sure can use his ability on Saturday against Virginia Tech and Tyrod Taylor.
