Did the Huskers get a new supply of bats overnight or something? After playing two terrible games against the Missouri Tigers the past two days, the Huskers were finally able to to win a game today.
Jeff Tezak drove in six runs as part of Nebraska’s 12-run sixth inning, as the No. 26 Husker baseball team posted a 16-1 victory over Missouri Sunday afternoon.
Tezak, who went 3-for-5 and scored twice, broke open a 4-1 game with a grand slam to left off reliever Brant Combs before driving in two more runs later in the inning with an RBI double, as Nebraska (13-9, 2-4 Big 12) had 10 hits off four Missouri pitchers and sent 16 hitters to the plate. The 12-run inning was NU’s highest single-inning total since 1999.
Johnny Dorn improved to 4-1 on the season pitching seven strong innings. He had nine strikeouts and only two walks so his command was pretty good and he got out of the tough jams without allowing many runs.
Up next for the Huskers is a two game series with Northern Colorado that begins Tuesday night in Lincoln. You should try to make it out and catch the Huskers in action!
