As we mentioned in the Norvell heading to UCLA article, Shawn Watson was rumored to become the new Huskers Football Offensive Coordinator. Well that rumor is now the truth as Head Coach Bill Callahan named Watson the OC yesterday. Watson will also take over as the quarterbacks coach.
Watson brings an impressive set of credentials to the offensive coordinator position. Before joining Callahan’s staff, Watson spent seven seasons on the coaching staff, including the final six years as the Buffs’ offensive coordinator. Like Nebraska, Colorado implemented a West Coast offensive system in Boulder and Watson helped the Buffs to four Big 12 North Division titles in his final five seasons.
It will be exiting to see how Watson does in the play calling and how well he reacts to the players etc. I’m pretty sure he will do a great job. He has plently of returning players on the offensive side of the ball to make a lot of noise this next season.
