New Nebraska Mens Basksetball coach and other players have convinced senior center Aleks Maric to stay with the team and come back to Lincoln for his senior season.ÂÂ
We report earlier that Maric, asked the University for his scholarship release because of the coaching changes that have went on during the off season. Once Aleks talked with Coach Sadler, he thought it was the right thing to do by coming back to the team. He loves the team and love the University it was just the coaching changes that he didn’t like. Sadler has scored one so far, and lets hope he can talk other big time players into coming to Lincoln to turn around this basketball program! Thanks Aleks for coming back to Lincoln!
We can gurantee that this is the last time we will be saying goodbye to Leon Jackson. He asked for his release again this morning and was granted it from Coach Callahan. Leon feels it would be best for him to leave the team that welcomed him back last time he wanted to leave.
Is Leon scared of all the competition at running back or does he want to just be closer to home? I think it is a little bit of both and maybe he is home sick more then anything. The list of schools that he is interested in are all PAC 10 schools including USC… Wouldn’t it be something to see Leon with USC next year when they travel to Lincoln?
Expect this to happen alot when you have the recuriting going on and the players that this coaching staff is bringing into the program. Some players like competition and some are scared of it. We want the players that want to be at Nebraska and are proud to be Huskers!
GO BIG RED!!!

There is already a new quarterback on his way to Lincoln once he finishes up some last second tests at his junior college.  Former blue-chipper Brian Hildebrand of Corona, Calif., is set to enroll at NU this month and begin practice as soon as Saturday, his junior-college position coach said. “He’s going to go in there and help Nebraska,” said Mike Moschetti, the quarterbacks coach at Mt. San Antonio (Calif.) College. “He’s going to battle somebody for that No. 2 spot right away.”
Glad to see the coaching staff getting a pretty good juco quarterback that will battle for the backup spot this year, and then the starting job next year. Lets hope for the best!

Nebraska Volleyball is starting out the season right where they want to finish it. That being the number one rated team in the county. Despite the loss of Christina Houghtelling the Huskers still have the power to dominate teams throughout the country.
The Huskers received the third-highest number of first-place votes in the poll with 14. No. 2 Penn State grabbed the most with 17, No. 3 Washington was second with 16 and No. 4 Stanford earned the other 13 No. 1 votes. Florida was ranked No. 5.
Nebraska topped the rankings with 1,431 total points, edging Penn State’s 1,407.
The two coaching changes that have happened this off season for the Nebraska Basketball team has made Aleks Maric want to leave the basketball team. Aleks says that he loves Lincoln and the University but will either transfer to another D1 school or play in Europe.
The University has not released Maric from his scholarship at this time, so we will have to see how it works out. If Maric does leave, it would leave the Huskers scrambling to find some big men to fill the roster. Doesn’t look to bright for the Huskers basketball team.
The three day saga of Harrison Beck leaving out of no where has finally came to an end today. Beck and coach Bill Callahan talked and both agreed to give Harrison his release from his Nebraska scholarship.ÂÂ
Beck’s mom sure had a lot of things to say to the Lincoln Journal Star yesterday and those things she said, made Harrison think there is no way he could go back to Lincoln and try to play. If that is really how he felt, it is good that he is leaving the program. Hopefully he will go somewhere and be the player that all Husker fans were hoping he would be for NU.
Rumors are going around that Beck is already being talked to by NC State so we will follow that and see where it goes.
Doc Sadler is the new men’s basketball coach at the University of Nebraska after meeting with Steve Pederson and Executive Associate A.D. Marc Boehm over the weekend in Denver. It has been said that Pederson and Boehm flew down to El Paso Texas today and picked Sadler up to fly him back to Lincoln where they met with the press this evening.
Sadler’s teams have won 48 games in two seasons in El Paso. His .727 winning percentage is the highest in UTEP history. Sadler will replace Barry Collier, who last week accepted the athletic director position at Butler University in Indianapolis.
Well we are all wondering what is going in Harrison Beck’s mind right now. Is he in his car driving back to his homestate of Florida? Beck attended the morning practice yesterday but was no where to be seen for his meetings and afternoon practice.
I have heard that it is because he was listed farther down on the depth chart then he expected and it really blew him away. If that is the case, Harrison needs to use that as motivation and really work hard and know he is only 1 injury away from being the starting quarter back for this Huskers team.ÂÂ
Some Husker Fans have been reading his facebook page and noticing some weird comments about Nebraska, which is making fans really think if Beck really wants to be a Husker. I hope Beck gets things straight and does what he thinks best is for him. He can still help this team this year and for the next few years if that is what he really wants to do.
Big time loss for the Huskers as starting cornerback Zack Bowman has been lost for the season due to a torn ACL. It is a big loss for the Huskers because they don’t have a lot of experience in the secondary.
Look for JUCO player Andre Jones to fill into Bowman’s spot and hopefully shut down the wideouts. He is a bigtime player and built like a horse that can punish the wide receivers both at the line and with a punishing hit.
Word from Lincoln is Bowman will either use his normal redshirt that he never used in junior college, or apply for a medical redshirt which he would not have any problems with. Bowman was being projected as a top 20 pick in the 2007 NFL draft but look for him to come back for the Huskers after he recovers from his knee injury.
