Nebraska’s Baseball season is over after a suprising 0-2 regional the past few days. The suprising part is who they lost to. Manhattan and San Francisco are not known baseball power houses but they were the better teams the past two days when they pretty much controlled the Huskers.
Looking back on the season, you can see where the team really over achieved for most of the season. They had a ton of young players this year and not a goto power guy in the lineup like the past. They were actually playing pretty good ball until the last month of the season. I think their confidence really dropped and that affected them during the regional.ÂÂ
Lets let the Major League Baseball draft happen and see how many Husker players end up going and signing with pro teams before we start talking about next years team. It was fun watching this team grow up and we can only hope that next years team will be that much stronger and learn from the last month.
Nebraska was very sluggish on offense today as the Jaspers used the long ball to beat Nebraska. Joba gave up two solo homeruns in the second inning and that was all the runs the Jaspers would end up needed. Manhattan did push across two more runs in the 8th inning on a balk call and then a single.
Nebraska could only muster 1 run, while leaving 10 runners on base. The team really need someone to step up and provide some offense for tomorrows game against the loser of Miami and San Francisco.
Good luck Huskers, you can still come back and win this regional. Lets do it!
Nebraska Educational Television has announced it will televise the NCAA Regional baseball games featuring Nebraska from Hawks Field at Haymarket Park on NET1. The games also will be broadcast in high-definition on NET-HD.
The coverage begins with Nebraska facing the Manhattan Jaspers at 1 p.m. Friday.
Great news! I can now watch the Huskers game on Friday while I’m at work
